A newspaper-format project created by Paul Fisher, Republic of England showcases his work alongside archival imagery and snippets of bold headline text and poetry, offering a suggestive visual commentary on aspects of contemporary British society and national identity.
The 60pp third issue is a magazine of extremes, where everyday consumerism, technology and travel are placed side-by-side with contemporary photographs of Auschwitz. A publication containing few words, the refrain ‘Devil Will Come Again’ is a clear indictment of the issue’s perspective on Britain’s current political climate. Each issue is individually ink stamped by the RoE politburo for authenticity.
